The Band Wagon ?!

On many forms of media lately, there has been a negative piling on of "THE HUNGER GAMES" ?!! This is one wagon that I will not be climbing on. Maybe we can all agree that media is more a 'reflection' of society, rather than books, games, and film influencing people. I understand that people may be challenged by an inability to know right from wrong, or reality from fantasy. Some of our entertainment is truly violent and bloody . . . but it's ENTERTAINMENT.

The Hunger Games trilogy was a great read and the movie was a tremendous visual. If we're going to condemn The Hunger Games for the killing, then we should also do the same for the ever-popular 'Twilight Saga' where vampire and werewolf YOUTH fight it out to the death by sucking blood or tearing flesh. While we're at it, let's ban the Vampire Diaries and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. How about South Park for killing Kenny each episode? The new Planet of the Apes was violent. How about the evening news broadcasting scenes from the current battle front? The list will be endless . . . so let's just ban ANY form of entertainment that may offend anyone or remotely influence a person to commit a crime . . . GIVE ME A BREAK ! ! !

What does all this say about us as a modern and sophisticated people? In my humble opinion, we really haven't traveled too far past cave men fighting over a water hole, the gladiator games in the Roman Colosseum, or the torturing during the Inquisition. In the film, "Whistleblower", based on a true story, the United Nations hired a contractor from the UK whose employees were directly involved with sex trafficking of under age girls in post-war Bosnia. Both contractor and UN tried to cover it up !?

With all the negativity in the world, it seems that we surely have our heads in the sand, thinking that it doesn't exist or will all go away if we ignore it. The whole world is NOT bad . . . but, with all the absolutely evil people who are running around committing heinous acts on their fellow man, complaining about a fictional film is being way out of touch ! !

*clink + clink*  =  my two cents dropping in . . .
